OEM Dynamics Apprentice Competes in WorldSkills Australia Regional Turning Competition.
OEM Dynamics is proud to share that Toby, our 2nd-year Certificate III Engineering apprentice, who recently competed in the WorldSkills Australia 2026 Regional Turning Competition hosted by Wollongbar TAFE.
Toby was one of seven competitors who took part in the regional turning event. We are extremely proud that he entered, challenged himself and represented OEM Dynamics.

A Real Test of Trade Skill
Turning is a precision trade. It requires far more than simply operating a lathe.
Competitors need to understand the drawing, plan the job, select tooling, calculate suitable speeds and feeds, machine accurately, check measurements and work safely throughout the competition.
For a 2nd-year apprentice, entering a competition like this is a valuable learning experience. It provides exposure to a different level of pressure and gives young tradespeople the chance to benchmark their skills against others at a similar stage of training.

Our workshop relies on practical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving every day. Experiences like WorldSkills Australia help reinforce those same qualities by encouraging apprentices to step outside their normal work environment and test themselves in a professional competition setting.
