Extending the Life of Critical Cooling Equipment
Shell and tube coolers play a critical role in hydraulic, lubrication and industrial cooling systems. When performance drops or corrosion appears, replacement is not always straightforward — particularly when legacy units or obsolete components are involved.
This week in our workshop, our team completed the full service and rebuild of a shell and tube cooler, captured during its final pressure testing stage.

Scope of Work Completed
The project included:
- Complete strip-down, condition assessment and reporting
- Internal cleaning and flushing
- Repair of corroded end bonnets (replacement parts unavailable)
- Replacement of all gaskets and O-rings
- Precision reassembly
- Hydrostatic pressure testing
- Rust prevention treatment prior to dispatch
Engineering-Led Repairs When Parts Can’t Be Sourced
A key challenge on this unit was corrosion damage to the end bonnets. As direct replacements were impossible to source, our engineering, machine shop and service teams work togther and carried out in-house repairs to restore structural integrity and sealing performance.
This capability is critical for customers operating ageing infrastructure or imported equipment where OEM parts are no longer supported.
Tested, Verified, and Ready for Service
Before dispatch, the cooler underwent full pressure testing to confirm mechanical integrity and sealing reliability. Following successful testing, rust prevention treatment was applied to ensure protection during transport and storage.
Our service approach focuses on:
- Extending equipment lifecycle
- Minimising downtime
- Providing engineering-based repair solutions
- Delivering tested and verified performance
